My Unofficial Job

For as long as I can remember uncle Boise had us sitting under a little stand or at a table selling corn he grew in our fields. I made my first dollar there, it was always so much fun. In May of 2007 Uncle Boise passed away but we've kept his corn "business" going strong. Uncle Boise's oldest son, Dave is my moms business partner. His younger brother, Kim grows all the corn & pumpkins. My little brother & I do the activities & the cash register. And my brother in-law Shawn is the pony guy & creativity behind the activities.  In 2009 we got somewhat serious about selling corn, produce & pumpkins. Mike would sit on his donkey on the side of the road with a sign or do an occasional dance which kind of attracted people. In 2010 we grew our own pumpkins but only 25% came up due to bad seeds so we brought some in. We had the TLC show "Sister Wives" film at Evans Family Farm which was a cool experience. We put the ponies to good use & made so many little kids happy. This last fall we had 1000's of pumpkins! We were always busy, which made it so much more enjoyable. I enjoyed helping kids guess the weight of their pumpkins, giving pony rides & giving hay rides. It is a really fun job & it has forced us to work together. The Daily Herald even did an article on us! Right now we are selling Christmas Trees in 20 degree weather but we've had our laughs & I wouldn't change anything about it. Spring 2012 we plan to get our greenhouse started back up which I'm really looking forward to! Stay tuned.
